Juliet Shaw
Date of Birth: Unknown
First episode: Series 4, Episode 1 Last episode: Series 6, Episode 8 Job: former National Security Co-ordinator Status: Alive (on the run) Portrayed by: Anna Chancellor After joining the security services, Juliet rose very fast as a spy. During the 1970s she worked with Harry in Europe during the Cold War, on covert black ops such as 'Operation Omega'; staging terrorist atrocities in Europe to encourage a harder line against left-wing groups. It was during this operation that Juliet and Harry began an affair. Some time later, she took a posting to Washington where she built up excellent contacts with the CIA. On her return to Britain, the Prime Minister appoints her as National Security Co-ordinator. |
Harry describes her as a ruthless right-wing crazy who'd stop at nothing. But her acid tongue and take-no-prisoners manner is highly attractive to some. Juliet is driven and single-minded. She is scared of nobody and will say the things that other people are only thinking. She cares little for the impact of her words, and will often talk bluntly rather than in a roundabout way.
In series 5, Juliet is left paralysed by a car bomb, during a chain of terrorist attacks by Michael Collingwood and Jocelyn Myers. However, she reappears in series 6 as a high-ranking Yalta operative – stating that she had been working with the organisation under deep cover – freely walking around and apparently unparalysed.
In the same episode that she is revealed as a member of Yalta, she is the person who 'kills' Ros by injecting her with what she thought was a lethal nerve agent. Believing Ros to be dead, Juliet escaped to fight another day As far as is known, Juliet is still out there somewhere. She never makes an appearance again.
