Nationality: British Height: 6' 1" (1.85 m) Spouse(s): None Children: Unknown Character in Spooks: Oliver Mace Tim was born in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, Cheshire (present day Greater Manchester) to William Ronald McInnerny and Mary Joan (née Gibbings); he is one of six children. He was brought up in Cheadle Hulme, and Stroud, Gloucestershire, and educated at Marling School, Stroud, and Wadham College, Oxford. Talent apparently runs in the family, as his younger sister, Lizzy McInnerny, is also a known actress, who once commented: |
My Dad's a film buff and my mother would go to the theatre every night if she could, it wasn't surprising that two of my brothers and I took it up. Two of the others are involved in acting in an amateur way too, so there's always a new role to talk about at home.
One of Tim's first roles was the bumbling aristocrat Lord Percy Percy in the The Black Adder during the early 1980s. He reprised his role in the second series Blackadder II but declined to do so for the third series for fear of being typecast, though he did make a guest appearance in one episode. The following year, he returned to the cast for the fourth series Blackadder Goes Forth as Captain Kevin Darling, the cowardly aide of Stephen Fry's General Melchett, alongside Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson and Hugh Laurie.
Tim’s other TV roles include Oliver Mace, in Spooks as well as one off appearances in Doctor Who, Twenty Twelve and Law and Order: UK. He has also starred in various films including Wetherby, 101 Dalmatians, Notting Hill, and Johnny English Reborn.
Tim lives with his long time partener, Annie Gosney, who is a costume designer. Since 2012, Tim has also been been named as a patron of the Norwich Film Festival.
