She constantly enjoys shifting identities and even the lies. This chameleon quality is deeply attractive to her husband Adam, but unlike him, she shies away from introspective questioning, knowing her best work is her skill in the field. Fiona is intensely loyal both to her family and workmates but struggles with the conflict of motherhood and espionage. Though she loves her son Wes, she will never leave the world of the Spooks willingly. Fiona originally works at MI6, but is seconded to MI5 allowing her to work alongside Adam as part of Section D and be around more for her family. |
Fiona is a talented and gifted intelligence officer, and her undercover operations are aided by a strong flair for acting. She is first introduced in series 3, and is used as a 'swallow' by her husband to place a tracking device on pro-Israeli newspaper mogul David Swift who is intent on destabilising the Middle East peace talks. To convince Swift to sell his newspapers and leave the United Kingdom, Fiona is made-up to look the victim of assault and records a video accusing him of rape.
In the tenth episode of series 3 Fiona and Danny are taken hostage by Iraqi extremists intent on murdering the Prime Minister. After a failed escape attempt in which the pair kill one of their captors, Adam is faced with choosing which of the hostages is to be executed. Before he can choose, Danny heroically provokes the lead extremist into shooting him dead, thus saving Fiona’s life. Indisposed due to grief, Fiona is unwilling to attend Danny's funeral at the beginning of series 4 and takes leave returning two episodes later.
Fiona had previously been married to a Syrian spy and it’s this past life causes her ultimate downfall. Whilst working undercover, her ex-husband Farook (whom she thought to be dead), now a terrorist, tracks her down, kidnaps her and attempts to smuggle her back to Syria. While Fiona tries to escape, Farook shoots and kills her, before being shot by Adam. Fiona dies in Adam's arms.
